Last year, I signed up to fundraise for my first big race: the runDisney Springtime Surprise 10-Miler. At the time, I decided to run and fundraise with AdventHealth, the same hospital where I had my surgery and completed all of my physical therapy. For me, it felt like a full circle moment.
Running that race wasn’t just about crossing a finish line. It was about honoring the people who helped me heal and the place that supported me through one of the hardest chapters of my life. Training for the race was fulfilling, but knowing I was running for a cause made it even more meaningful. It gave every mile a purpose. This year, I’m running the runDisney Springtime Surprise 10-Miler again on April 19, but this time I’m fundraising for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer.
Being able to run and give back to the community again means so much to me. Throughout my healing journey, one thing became very clear: having a community, a village of people who support you, encourage you, and stand by you is incredibly important. My friends, family, and loved ones rallied behind me when I needed it most, and I know my recovery would have looked very different without them. Not everyone has that kind of support system.
By fundraising, I feel like I’m helping create that sense of community for others. Hospital stays, treatments, research, and medical bills are all costs that add up quickly. Organizations like Cookies for Kids’ Cancer are doing incredible work to support pediatric cancer research and help families facing unimaginable challenges. Choosing this organization felt like an easy decision. Their mission is powerful, their work is impactful, and helping children in any way possible is deeply meaningful to me. Since I started fundraising for the Springtime Surprise 10-Miler, I’ve made a personal promise to always fundraise when I run this race. It has become about so much more than just running 10 miles through Disney. It’s about purpose, gratitude, and giving back.
Every mile reminds me of how far I’ve come, how much work it took to get here, and how important it is to support others along the way.
If you’d like to support my run and the mission of Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, there are a few simple ways you can help:
Donate: Any amount makes a difference. Your donation helps fund critical pediatric cancer research and supports families facing incredibly difficult circumstances.
Share my fundraiser: Even if you’re not able to donate, sharing my fundraiser with friends, family, or on social media helps spread the word and makes a huge impact.
Cheer me on: Encouragement means more than you might realize. Every message, comment, and word of support helps carry me through the miles.
Running this race is an incredible honor, and knowing that every mile is helping support children and families makes it even more meaningful.

Thank you for being part of my journey and for helping turn 10 miles through Disney into something much bigger.
